FLOOR PRICE SCHEME FOR
AGRI/HORT. COMMODITIES IN KARNATAKA

                         Agricultural prices are prove to fluctuations. Agricultural commodities in Karnataka has been implemented. To protect the interests of the farmers against distress sale of agricultural commodities by assuring a floor price, The Agricultural Policy Resolution of the Government of Karnataka stressed to bring in "Price and Market Reforms" in the Agricultural Sector of the State. The scheme shall be applicable in the whole state of Karnataka and to notified Agricultural and Horticultural commodities grown in the state. So far Rs.896.17 crores have been released to different purchase agencies for purchasing the commodities from farmers and 4,39,736 farmers are benefitted under this scheme.
RAITHA SANJEEVINI

                         This is an Accident Insurance Scheme implemented by the Board from 1996. Under this scheme, a farmer who meets with an accidental death or permanent disabilities by production or marketing operations the following amount of compensation grant by the Board. The immediate dependent has to apply through the APMC for the sanction of the amount

a. Accidental death..                                   Rs. 50,000.00
b. Loss of 2 Hands and 2 Limbs                Rs. 15,000.00
c. Loss of eyes..                                           Rs. 12,000.00
d. Loss of 1 hand or 1 limb..                       Rs. 7,500.00
e. Loss of 1 eye                                           Rs. 6,000.00
f. Loss of finger of hand or legs                  Rs. 1,500.00 (Per finger)
g. Broken waist                                            Rs. 15,000.00

So far 5,967 claims have been settled and the amount involved is Rs.14.76 crores.
JANASHREE VIMA YOJANA FOR WEIGHMEN, HAMALS and CARTMEN

                       The Board is implementing an insurance scheme with the help of LIC for the benefit of 16,000 licenced Weighmen, Hamals and Cartmen working in different APMCs of Karnataka. The total amount paid towards compensation since 1996 was Rs.355.17 lakhs. So far 1,338 persons are benefited in this scheme.

The details of compensation amount are as follows:
A. Natural Death                                                            Rs.30,000.00
B. Accidental Death                                                      Rs.75,000.00
C. Permanent disbility                                                   Rs.75,000.00
D. Permanent loss of ` 2 Eyes 2 Limbs 2 Hands       Rs.75,000.00
E. Loss of 1 Eye, 1 Hand Rs.37,500.00

In addition to this, the Government of India pay scholarship to two students of 9th to 12th standards in a family of the insurer and they get a sum of Rs.300/- per quarter
